Re: Milano Golden Gala 30.12.11 & Capodanno on Ice 1.1.12- I

http://www.evgeniplushenko.it/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=183&Itemid=49
english translation :-):

Two exciting shows

Two shows in three days, this is what Plushenko gave Italian fans.
We had the privilege of watching the new programs as a world preview, just after the Russian nationals. Folks, it was another confirmation that undoubtedly we have to watch Plushenko live.
Even we have watched the RN on streaming, only by watching him live we become aware of the beauty of this costumes and the intensity of his programs. They had the unique pathos of the programs performed by the skater who gave figure skating lots of fans.
Needless to say that it’s definitely worth to watch him on the shows in this period, because he has just come back to competitions and he’s in excellent shape. Moreover, without the anxious atmosphere of competitions, it’s possible to watch Evgeni playing with the audience on ice, living the music and, besides that, making the show technical level higher.

(…..)

Milano Golden Gala...
the show reached its climax when the tsar entered the ice rink, wearing a sparkling costume.
A wonderful audience welcomed the SP “Storm” heartily. We appreciated the straight line step sequence very much. It had a perfect Plushenko-style swell of intensity that reached that typical speedy at the and (thanks to the change of rhythm) that drives the audience crazy.
At the end of his performance, Evgeni thanked the president of ISU, Ottavio Cinquanta for his support. After that, he thanked all for their support (it’s important to notice that on the same day the ISU officially allowed Evgeni to take part in the EC, even if he has only taken part in one competition in the last two years, and so he didn’t reach the minimum score to compete in Sheffield. They gave Evgeni the authorisation because this rule has the only aim of preventing lower – level athletes to compete at the EC).
Evgeni’s free program, Tango Roxanne, as intense as his SP, got a good success and a standing ovation. The quantity and high quality of jumps left us breathless. Actually, we already got used to it, but we knew he started training on jumps just ten days before Russian Nationals, and this really made us astonished about his capacity of recovering his technical abilities in such a short time.
We already saw something like this last summer in Pinzolo: there, three weeks after surgery, he already started jumping quads. Last autumn he had other problems with his knee and so he had to postpone his comeback. At the moment he has some problems because of a cyst, and he has to undergo surgery in the next months. So, it’s not possible to have long-term forecast now, but it’s confirmed that Evgeni will take part in the EC.

At the end of the show, a smiling Plushenko signed autographs and took photos with his fans.

But emotions weren’t over: two days later, Evgeni delighted us by taking part in the show Capodanno on Ice.
Unfortunately, we could meet him just for a short time before the show, and he wished us a happy new year. Inseparable Yana and her blond-haired children were with him.

(……)

Evgeni wisely kept Tango Roxanne as his last performance and showed energy and an incredible push. He’s a real force of nature! The ice rose after every movement of his blades.
His expression was sometimes strong, sometimes intense and his costume shone in the spins. He interacted with the audience and did jumps one after another with great naturalness (he also did combos 3T+3T and 3A, etc…). These are the ingredients of a 4minutes performances that shows Evgeni’s 1000 facets, and this makes you feel so many different feelings in such a short time that his performance becomes an intense emotional experience. As a matter of fact, you can easily notice that some people in the audience were moved by it. Which skater can make people feel this way? At the very least, Evgeni deserves a mention for his 3A, that we already saw at Russian Nationals and seems to be even better. Without fear of confutation, we can say that it’s one of the most beautiful 3A in the world.

Now we’re waiting for the Euro Championships in Sheffield. Actually, we’re not on the ice, but our level of adrenaline rises, too. Go Evgeni!

Evgeni Plushenko: torno, ma l'obiettivo vero è gareggiare a Sochi
http://www.artonice.it/?q=it/node/11339
here we go! english translation :-):

Evgeni Plushenko: I’m back, but my aim is to compete in Sochi
Interview by Barbara Castellaro for artonice.it

January 1st, Palavela. A frozen gaze that pierces your soul, reading beyond appearances, going deep into your heart. A few, rare smiles, an innate charisma, and the self-confidence of an athlete who knows he already is a legend of figure skating but that still wants to challenge himself and goes on repeating “I want to take part in my forth Olympics and I want to do it in Sochi, in my Russia.”:
This is Evgeni Plushenko, beloved and admired all over the world.

Question: first of all, welcome in Turin. How are you?
Answer: well, I’m fine, but I’ll have to undergo left knee surgery soon, and I’ll have to rest for a whole month.

Q.: after two years, you come back to competition at the Russian Nationals and you won. Evgeni is back. Mishin said: “Plushenko is an hero twice, because he come back to competitions in 2010 and now.” Will we see you in Sheffield at the Euro Championships? And what about Nice, for the Worlds?
A.: I’m sure I’ll take part in the EC in Sheffield, in January. Then, I’ll have to think about my knee, maybe. The Russian Nationals were my comeback, a good comeback. I’d like to finish this season, but, as I’ve said many times, my greatest aim are the Olympic Games in Sochi, in 2014.
From now till that moment I’ll think about competitions one by one, without forecasting anything, according to my health… (he laughs)…of course, except for the Oly! This is a long-term forecast.

Q.: in Russia you showed two new programs. Would you like to tell us something about them? You worked with your friend Edvin Marton once again, it’s a successful partnership…
A.: yes, I’ve worked and I work a lot with Edvin. For the SP I’ve worked with Yanni, a great representative of melodic electronic. He has Greek origins, but he lives in Minneapolis. He’s outstanding. He arranged Vivaldi’s “Storm”. For the LP I’ve chosen a tango again and Edvin arranged it, of course. He’s a violin virtuoso, a great artist. The title is “El Tango de Roxane”…it’s a beautiful music from “Moulin Rouge”. I’ll skate to it this evening in Turin.

Q.: a gold medal in Turin, two silver medals, one of which was called “a platinum medal”…what do we have to expect in Sochi? Which are Evgeni’s aims?
A.: it’s a great success for me to take part in my forth Olympics. It would be a memorable result itself. Of course, it would be a greatest satisfaction if I won a medal. Maybe the one I don’t have yet, the bronze…it would be the completion of my career. At the present moment, I just want to work hard and improve all the elements…also in transitions…what do you think, in Vancouver I’ve lost the gold medal because of them?

Q.: in Mishin’s team there’s a young girl who showed great programs in the Grand Prix. She’s Liza Tuktamysheva, and she really surprised us…
Plushenko: yes, Liza has a great talent and she’s really young. She had a wonderful debut in Grand Prix. I’ll wait for her in the next competitions…but she can’t take part in the EC and WC because of her young age.

Q.: this question is not related to figure skating. You’ve said many times that you stand for an Italian football team, Juventus (I stand for it, too). Do you think it will please fans this year?
P.: well, I met Alessandro del Piero yesterday during warm up. he’s a friend of mine, besides being a great champion in and out the pitch. The beginning of the season was promising. I love football and I watch Juventus when I can. Let’s hope…and not only for Italian fans…

(Alessandro del Piero plays in the team Juventus)

Q.: this evening you’re skating at Palavela, in Turin. Here you won the Olympic gold, in 2006. how do you feel when you enter the ice rink? Do you ever think about that moment?
P.: I love Italy and Turin very much. Skating at the Palavela is so moving and the audience is warm, but that moment was six years ago. I’ve been on competitions, I’ve won other prizes, other medals…no, I don’t think about that moment. I just think about the audience and to give them the best Evgeni…

A smile, finally a cheery and involving smile, a wave, and Evgeni walks away, easy.
Beyond any reflection and forecast, we expect hot, involving challenges on ice, starting from Euros in Sheffield. We expect high-level technical elements and, above all, we expect to go on getting excited. Figure skating is art, and as art, it’s dream, catharsis and charm. Anyone who can give us this deserves our gratitude.

It doesn’t matter if the Tsar won’t be the same of Turin. He’s already become a legend, and a stream of images will continue to flow before our eyes: not only the images of Turin, Salt Lake City and Vancouver, but also those of the shows in which he caught and dragged us on the ice with him.

I think this is one of the best interviews with Evgeni that I've ever read on artonice :plush31:

Re: Champions on Ice - Rimini, Italy 29.04.2012

CHAMPIONS ON ICE 2012

this is my report from champions on ice! :pisa_tel:

The show started with the esibition of all skaters: Artur Gachinski, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, Elena Ilynikh and Nikita Katsalapov, Ksenia Stolbova and Fedor Klimov, Florent Amodio, Anna Cappellini and Luca Lanotte, Alena Leonova, Nicole Della Monica and Matteo Guarise, Carolina Kostner and Evgeni Plushenko were the protagonists of the event. Liza and Artur opened the show: they're so nice together! :plush33:
for a few minutes Anna and Luca become Rose and Jack from Titanic, and since the beginning Florent introduced himself to the audience with his “hip hop skating” :-) :mu_zyk:

I loved the pairs, they're wonderful! Matteo Guarise is from Rimini, so the audience was very happy to see Nicole and him performing with such great champions! I was so happy of seeing Ksenia and Fedor live! And I just love the dance pairs :plush32:
All of them got a storm of applause!!!! the audience was very warm and they created a nice atmosphere in the arena :-):

Carolina and Plush were the absolute stars of the show, of course. :son-ce: When Zhenya entered the rink
the audience welcomed him with thunderous applause :bra_vo: :ya_hoo_oo:
he performed Storm and Tango Roxanne...he flew on the music and enchanted the audience with his art...well, I have no words to describe it! It wasn't the first time I saw him live, but it's always breathtaking...Evgeni flies on the ice and you feel as you were flying with him on the music...

after Storm, I was wondering what he would perform :du_ma_et: I was thinking about something I considered absolutely impossible :plush47: and...
when the first notes of Tango Roxanne resounded in the air, the audience screamed and applauded and made sooo much noise that I thought the walls would have fallen down!!!!! :ya_hoo_oo: :plush46:
I couldn't believe I was watching Zhenya performing one of my favourite programs live! It's great when you see him on TV, but live it's simply...unbelievable. I LOVE tango roxanne.

The audience asked him for an encore and he did a super-high butterfly :sh_ок:

some girls showed him their Russian flag plush48 and Zhenya cheered them! And then he got bunches of flowers (aaaaaaaaaa he kissed the ladies to thank them for the flowers...!) and every kind of soft toys flew down from the stands!

Carolina wore a wonderful blue costume and performed just one program, I don't know why. But it's always something magic when she skates...

at the end of the show, they performed all together once again on “ai se eu te pegu”, and Caro put her arm on Gachi's shoulder and they danced together, nice disco moment indeed :ta-ne-c:
(*ahahahah Darina, I dont't know if Plushy was jealous...maybe he was :dra_chun: but he danced with her at the beginning...so, he should be kind with his mate Artur and let him dance with her too! :hi_hi_hi: )

after the end of the show, all skaters got out the rink except for Caro and Zhenya who signed autographs and cheered people!!!! :mo-ro_zi_vo: they're the champions of our hearts :plush31:

from the 1st article (the woman in the picture is not Carolina!!!! :ps_ih: ):

"Molto atteso anche lo «zar», il fenomenale russo Evgeni Plushenko, novello Nureyev venuto dalla Siberia, forse il più grande pattinatore della storia. Ha scelto la spavalda aria della «Donna è mobile» dal Rigoletto e la fascinosa «Habanera» da Carmen -bene interpretata vocalmente dal mezzosoprano Valeria Sepe- mostrando eccezionale eleganza e una perfezione tecnica ragguardevoli, con cui si è guadagnato ripetute ovazioni."

Re: Opera On Ice - Verona, Italy 22.09.2012

Ok girls, this is my report from Opera On Ice :pisa_tel:

The show started with an exhibition of all skaters on  the ouverture of "Il barbiere di Siviglia" by Gioacchino Rossini. A group of children from some italian skating schools took part in the exhibition with the champions.
first great applauses for Carolina, Zhenya and Stephane. Then the presenters introduced Shizuka Arakawa, who skated to Puccini's “Madama Butterfly”. She is so delicate and expressive! And she has wonderful ina bauer :sh_ок:

After Shizuka, Stephane took his turn and delighted the audience with his famous “Wilhelm Tell”. :plush32: I had already seen this program several times but I really love it, in my opinion  it's his best program ever. The audience went crazy for his step sequence and started clapping hands  on the rhythm of the music before the refrain started :hi_hi_hi:

then it came the moment for two lovely pairs: Anna Cappellini and Luca Lanotte skated to passionate aria "Amami Alfredo", from Verdi's “La Traviata”, Aliona Sawchenko and Robin Szolkowy danced to Roméo et Juliette (Interludio)...so charming. All the elements look easy for them and they just bring you out of the real world into their fable   :plush31: The audience asked for an encore and they  come back to ice

And then the moment came. He. The Tsar. Rigoletto, “La donna e' mobile”.
As his role requested, Zhenya made an unexpected entry: he appeared from the stalls and gave red roses :ro_za: to the ladies in the audience. waaaaaaaaaaa :sh_ок: :is_te_ri_ka:

Then, he entered the rink (well, I'd better say he jumped on ice, since the rink was higher than the stalls) and he continued his exhibition. oh WOW. Actually, I didn't like his costume at all (when i saw it, I thought 'Victoria's secret?!?' :hi_hi_hi: ), but  his performance was so catching! And he did a highest butterfly (I know I'm always shocked by his butterflies, I'm getting boring ::yaz-yk: but theyre sooooo wonderful...)
After his exhibition he went on stage with the presenters and the orchestra. The presenter asked him if he can speak Italian and he said "no, just <grazie, mi dia la ricevuta>” (“thank you, may I have the receipt, please?”) then he cheered the audience (he said “ciao!”).
That terrible presenter was not happy yet, so he asked the conductor to translate his question for Zhenya, since he can speak Russian (it was something like this: "no matter with all your physical problems, you always come back in good shape, how can you do this") but actually Zhenya didn't answer (smart guy!) :plush26: and thanked the audience and all his fans for supporting him so warmly :plush31:
(I simply couldn't stand those presenters, they were not able to pronounce the skaters' names and it seemed that they have ever heard about them :kli_ny: ...it was quite embarrassing... :-( )

After Zhenya, the show went on with lovely Carolina and Stephane as Romeo and Juliet (Je Veux Vivre). They're very poetic as a pair and Caro wore a beautiful white embroidered dress. :gir_l-fri_end:

The Italian synchronised skating team hot shivers skated to “Va' Pensiero”, from Giuseppe Verdi's “Nabucco”.
After that, Anna and Luca danced to “La cavatina di Figaro” from “Il barbiere di Siviglia”. Stephane, Robin, the children and some girls of the Hot Shivers played the role of bit players in the very first part.
Shizuka skated to “Nessun dorma” from “Turandot” by Giacomo Puccini (and I shot her fabulous ina bauer, yeah! :plush41: ) and then the great conclusion started. Stephane danced to “Libiamo ne' lieti calici” (“La Traviata”) and got great applauses. He did an encore and when the music ended he was still spinning at the speed of light or something more :sh_ок: :sh_ок: :sh_ок: and the audience went on clapping hands at the rhythm of the music...incredible.
Carolina skated to “Il Trovatore” and enchanted the audience who asked for an encore. All the skaters wore costumes that belong to the “Fondazione Arena di Verona”.

Then the tsar came back on ice as a matador in arena and enchanted the audience with his spicy “Habanera” from “Carmen” by Georges Bizet. :du-ra: :goria_cho: :plush32: Since the first notes resounded in the air, the Arena, the audience, Zhenya, the rhythm of the music and the coreography melt together and become something spectacular.

The finale was “Gloria all'Egitto” from Verdi's Aida. The lights were switched off and the audience was asked to make light with little candles we were given at the entrance. So the arena was all dark, shining of thousands of little and flickering flames. All the athletes skated together dressed in their ancient-egyptian-style costumes and there was a solemn but at the same time warm atmosphere. A wonderful ending for a wonderful show.
