Plushenko 'Feeling Good' after Knee Operation

European figure skating champion Evgeny Plushenko feels good after an operation on his knee in Germany, he said Thursday.

Plushenko skated through the pain of a knee injury to win his seventh European title last month, putting off much-needed surgery for his first international competition since winning silver at the 2010 Vancouver Games.

The 29-year-old can continue with his high-profile comeback to the sport after having surgery on his meniscus cartilage in Munich, but he will not recover in time for next week's world championships in Nice, France.

“They've done the operation, I feel good! I love you all,” Plushenko said on Twitter.

Plushenko returned to domestic competition in December, winning the Russian national championships in Saransk against largely unheralded opponents with an untidy performance.

He had been absent from the international circuit since Vancouver due to a disqualification over a breach of amateur competition rules and various injuries.

He received special dispensation from the International Skating Union to take part in the European championships in Sheffield, England, after failing to accrue enough points in competition this season to qualify.

Plushenko has said his recovery from surgery will take a month.

Feb 23 (Reuters) - European figure skating champion Yevgeny Plushenko said he was feeling fine after undergoing knee surgery in Germany on Thursday.

"Everything went well, I feel good," the 29-year-old Russian told local media.

Plushenko needed painkilling injections on his troublesome knee before winning his seventh European men's title in Sheffield, England, last month in his first international competition since the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

Eager to compete on home ice at the 2014 Sochi Games, Plushenko said he needed to undergo surgery to sort out his knee issues before resuming training for next season.

"Doctors will have to clean up the meniscus and repair a cartilage in my knee," he told reporters last month.

The 2006 Turin champion, who also has two Olympic silver medals from the 2002 and 2010 Games, will miss next month's world championships in Nice, France.

When Evgeni Plushenko announced last year that he was returning to competition, many discounted his ability to compete with the current generation.

But at the 2012 European Championships, the Russian superstar proved to the world once again that he is a force to be reckoned with and should never be counted out.

After an easy win in the qualifying round, Plushenko, who did not attempt a quad in the short due to a lingering injury, was outskated by his training mate Artur Gachinski and landed in second place.

Evgeny Plushenko's back injury does not require surgery and can be treated with physiotherapy and acupuncture, a doctor for the European skating champion told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.

After winning gold at the championships in Sheffield, England, earlier this month, Plushenko underwent surgery on his left knee in Munich, Germany.

He had anticipated needing to go under the knife again for a hernia that had been found in his spine, but Tweeted ecstatically on Monday that an operation wouldn't be required.

“The injury will be treated with non-invasive methods: injections into the muscles, physiotherapy, acupuncture,” Russian skating team doctor Yaroslav Bugaev said Tuesday, adding the injury would stop causing Plushenko pain after a minimum two weeks' treatment.

Plushenko is expected to take a month to recover from surgery on knee cartilage before continuing with a comeback to the sport he hopes will culminate in gold at his home Winter Games in Sochi in 2014.

The 29-year-old has had to skip the world championships in Nice, France, which start on March 26, depriving skating fans of a confrontation between Plushenko and his Canadian rival Patrick Chan this season.

He received special dispensation from the International Skating Union to take part in Sheffield after failing to accrue enough points in competition this season to qualify.

Российский фигурист Евгений Плющенко будет лечить позвоночную грыжу консервативными методами. По словам врача сборной России по фигурному катанию Ярослава Бугаева, хирургическое вмешательство не потребуется.

«Травму будут лечить консервативными методами: закачивание мышц, физиопроцедуры, акупунктура. Нужно будет недели две для того, чтобы купировать болевой синдром», - пояснил Бугаев.

Напомним, ранее сообщалось о том, что Евгений Плющенко успешно перенес операцию на колене. Спортсмен заверил своих фанатов в прекрасном самочувствии.

Plushenko's surgery a success

Evgeni Plushenko's manager, Ari Zakarian, is in Minsk spreading the word that his client's Feb. 23 meniscus surgery in Munich went well.

"The meniscus surgery was very successful," Zakarian said. "The doctors had also planned surgery in his back, but they found out it was not necessary, so they only made a small [incision], which was also successful.

"Evgeni plans to fly back home from Munich to Russia on Wednesday. He will rest a bit so that everything can heal and certainly will not compete at worlds in March. For the month of April, I have already organized a few new shows. Beginning in May, he will prepare for a full new season with many competitions. His main goal certainly remains to participate in Sochi 2014."

Plushenko won the 2006 Olympic title, as well as Olympic silver medals in 2002 and 2010. In January, he won his seventh European title, landing two quads despite skating on a pre-operative left knee. He has vowed to compete in three Grand Prix events, the Grand Prix Final, the Russian championships, the 2013 European Championships and the 2013 World Championships next season.

Король фигурного катания проходит курс реабилитации после операции на мениске

Евгений Плющенко оригинально отметил 23 февраля. Вместо традиционных фронтовых 100 грамм он принял наркоз и лег на хирургический стол в одной из клиник Мюнхена.

Операция на мениске прошла успешно и спустя 5 дней после операции Евгений передвигается уже довольно резво. Правда, пока на костылях.Тем временем, немецкие эскулапы заверили, что вторая операция королю фигурного катания не понадобится.

Напомним, после победы на чемпионате Европы-2012 Плющенко обмолвился, что, возможно, ему понадобится операция на спине по поводу межпозвоночной грыжи. Однако медики решили обойтись методами консервативного лечения. Евгению надо будет накачивать мышцы спины, пройти курс физиотерапии и иглоукалывания.

Чемпионат мира по фигурному катанию, который пройдет с 26 марта по 1 апреля в Ницце, Евгений, естественно, пропустит. Решено, что в Ницце нашего лидера заменит Сергей Воронов.

А Жене надо будет пройти полноценный курс реабилитации. Его супруга Яна Рудковская уже вылетела к мужу в Германию, чтобы лично поддержать Женю в этот период. По просьбе «КП» Женя сделал небольшой фоторепортаж о своем пребывании в мюнхенской клинике (см. фото).К новому сезону Плющенко начнет готовиться в мае.

Сборы по общефизической подготовке пройдут в Сочи и Кисловодске, а затем отправится в Европу. По традиции ледовые тренировки Женя проводит в испанской Хаке и итальянском городке Пинцоло. А полировать программы для нового сезона Плющенко будет уже в родном Санкт-Петербурге. Над композициями чемпиона будет работать интернациональная бригада специалистов.

Помимо, естественно, профессора Мишина, туда войдут хореограф Давид Авдыш, венгерский скрипач Эдвин Мартон, швейцарец Стефан Ламбьель, недавно завершивший карьеру. 23 февраля олимпийскому чемпиону Турина Евгению Плющенко в специализированной клинике спортивной медицины в Мюнхене была сделана операция на правом мениске. На следующий день к Жене в Мюнхен вылетела его жена Яна Рудковская. Корреспондент «ВП» связался с ней по телефону.

«Операция прошла по плану. На данный момент могу сказать, что все идет хорошо, — не скрывая радости, сказала Яна. — Сегодня Женя уже ходит без костылей. И настроение у него хорошее».

Однако, по имеющимся у «ВП» данным, одним коленом дело может не ограничиться — магнитно-резонансная томография показала, что у Жени есть проблемы и со спиной. «Вопрос с его спиной будет решаться в ближайшие часы, — подтвердила Яна. — Больше ничего по этому поводу я добавить не могу».

«Женю действительно будет осматривать другой врач, который при необходимости сделает ему операцию на спине, — уточнил тренер фигуриста Алексей Мишин. — Тем не менее даже незапланированное хирургическое вмешательство не нарушит наших планов — на послеоперационную реабилитацию мы отводим март, а в апреле уже приступим к подготовке новых программ на следующий сезон».

Интересно, что к работе над новыми программами Евгения Плющенко Алексей Мишин собирается привлечь иностранных хореографов. Имен их, правда, Профессор не назвал — сказал только, что один специалист приглашен из Италии, другой из Канады. «Во всем мире идет активное заимствование моих методик, приемов, упражнений в работе над прыжковыми элементами. Слишком активное, — посмеялся Алексей Николаевич. — Почему бы и нам тоже не воспользоваться опытом, который саккумулирован европейской и американской школами в области хореографии программ?»

Впрочем, до сих пор опыт работы с зарубежными хореографами у Алексея Мишина был не слишком удачным. Последний пример — постановка Стефаном Ламбьелем произвольной программы для Плющенко к нынешнему сезону, которая «не пошла». Тем не менее Алексей Николаевич полон оптимизма: «Надеюсь, что на сей раз все удастся, это будет впервые в моей тренерской практике, что мой ученик выступит с программой от зарубежного хореографа».
