Zhenya...
I cannot fathom that I, an avid fan and admirer, could possibly offer any ideas, as you are a master at what you do. Therefore, I shall endeavor to suggest to you what I feel in my heart. Unfortunately, I am a hopeless romantic. With that said, I will often be ostentatious. Watching you skate and perform, the passion that you exude...lifts my spirits and I sense it thoughout my entire being. My suggestions may presume too much romanticism. However, your powerful abilities, athleticism, and artistry burns this image within me. Edvin's arrangements are also a difficult task to comprehend giving ideas to. It's so wonderful of you to hopefully take the time to read our suggestions.
Here are my attempts. These are in no particular order:
J.S. Bach's Matthaus-Passion (St. Matthew Passion) Religious but powerful voices and music. Combining this with your dynamic and compelling talents, tells the story in itself.
John Williams' Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace - Duel Of The Fates Star Wars? Yes! Oh the Quads that can be performed in this piece is staggering. Powerful...very powerful music with the London Singers. Fast paced and laced with majestic and dramatic instrumentals.
Sergey Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet - Ballet in itself that I am certain you would be superb at performing. If only you were allowed to utilize props in your programs, a balcony scene or even a ballerina on the ice or alongside the rink. You adorned in a costume of the period. The Love Theme from the ballet (yes...I digress). Your special talent at interpreting and bringing the music to life through your skating coincides with the talents of Nijinksy and Baryshnikov.
Rachmaninov's Rhapsody On A Theme Of Paganini - This beautiful piece is passion emblazoned. Another ballet, but I am sure you could interpret it by only listening.
I see the music. I see you performing any of the above. Whatever your decision, it will be the right one. I have not been disappointed by anything you have done and it is doubtful that I ever will be disappointed.
With sincerest gratitude for just being you.
