Prince William is an Olympics fan, could use help remembering Lindsey Vonn's last name
On Thursday, while visiting North America to take part in some pre-Canada Day festivities, Prince William and Kate attended what was described in a blurb on a Reuters video as an "official barbecue" in Ottawa (as opposed to most of us, who are attending unofficial barbecues over 4th of July weekend).
The notable portion of this video (which you can view below) begins around the 2:35 mark, when William gets into a conversation with Olympic ice dancing champion Tessa Virtue. During said conversation, William explains that he was watching the Vancouver Games "nearly every night at home." Then, at the 3:23 mark, while discussing Alpine skiing, he says, "There was an American, Lindsey..."
[There's a pause here, as we see him attempt to conjure the name from the recesses of his cranium]
"Lindsey Vonn," someone said, before the silence could become too awkward.
"Lindsey Vonn -- Oh my God, she was unbelievable down the hill as well."
If you haven't yet seen it, check out Prince William and Tessa (what's her last name? Oh yes, Virtue) discussing the Olympics below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHDFes5Ex5s
The Glacier Falls Summer Classic is underway. Some of the top skaters in the country are competing so I will try to link to anyone who is on youtube. According to Unseenskaters, the top six ladies finishers in the short program were Mirai Nagasu, Ashley Wagner, Courtney Hicks, Leah Keiser, Caroline Zhang, and Vanessa Lam. The top men's finishers were Max Aaron (who almost landed a quad salchow), Joshua Farris, Douglas Razzano, Jonathan Cassar, Jason Brown, and Scott Dyer.
Also, Mary Beth Marley and Rockne Brubaker skated an "exhibition."
