He didn't compete for three years, but as soon as I saw him, I knew that there was a true Olympic Champion on the ice. - Takahiko Kozuka, Rostelecom Cup 2009

Maybe. We will see very soon :-):
I would love to see him at the GPF in Sochi :plush32: :plush31: but last time he skated in two events was in 2003-2004, no? :plush34:

If I remember correctly Plushy already spoke he wants just 1 GP. Though I don't know where he will compete :plush38: At least he can't go to China because of the 30th birthday show :du_ma_et:

This is also pro-am competition. But only for Olympic and World medalists.

We had a fight and 2 "independent" national federations - so that we not could 3-4 years to organize any international competition :kli_ny: :ps_ih: ... we have a saying: "2 Serbs, 3 parties" :-)

I'm probably wrong, but it is not S. Hamilton's idea? I remember something like this. :plush38:

I have no idea what "interpretation competition" means. I assume the same skaters, or almost the same will fight individually at Medal winners, and in teams at Japan Open. Great! Two days in Saitama instead of one! :plush45:

As far as I remember the pros are skaters who retired no longer than 10 years ago. So no Ilia Kulik!!!! :is_te_ri_ka: :is_te_ri_ka: :is_te_ri_ka: Maybe Yags, but I don't know if his leg allow him to compete? :plush47: Probably we'll see Jeff Buttle, Lambiel, Plush, Dai, Chan,Evan, Joub, Miki, Irina , Shizuka too cuz she's still able to jump 3-3 :plush41: !!!!
And yes, it was Hamilton's idea! :hi_hi_hi: No idea what "interpretation competition" means maybe the focus is on the artistic part, so retired skaters have a chance too. :co_ol:

This is not Hamilton's event. His event will debut in the Spring of 2013 according to the event site http://www.icechampionship.com/

Tony Wheeler says that this competition will be "interpretive free skate type of thing, where the limit of jumps is something like 3", like Grand Slam, Masters, Canadian Open, old Japan Open, etc... So, Probably Zhenya knew well because he was competing at such a commercial event so many times :-)

But who will be invited?

Past 10 years medalists of Men: Chan, Takahashi, Hanyu, Kozuka, Gachinski, Joubert, Lysacek, Buttle, Weir, Lambiel, Plushy, Lindemann, Goebel, Honda, those 14 skaters could be invited. (But I think Goebel can't compete now, and I don't think Lindemann will be invited.)
