The colours of Rastafarian flag are red, gold, green and black. Red is said to signify the blood of martyrs who died in struggle to fight off their white oppressors, Green the vegetation and beauty of Ethiopia, Gold the wealth of Africa and Black represents the colour of Africans skin.

The Austrian Niko Alm has won the right to be shown on his driving-licence photo wearing a pasta strainer as "religious headgear". Mr Alm said the sieve was a requirement of his religion, Pastafarianism (aka The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster)

In the letter, Henderson parodied the concept of intelligent design by professing belief in a supernatural creator that closely resembles spaghetti and meatballs. Due to its popularity and exposure, the Flying Spaghetti Monster is often used as a contemporary version of Russell's teapot.
