I also like the fact that he is experimenting, because he could try to simply put on a "judges-pleasing" program (I know, I know, it's a wise move to please the juges, specially if you want to win ), but I also feel there's something inside of him that wants to rebel, and that's why he is so unique, because he is real, not a souless fake like the many others out there. I think he is not trying just to win 'per se', I think he wants to improve himself and skating in general, I think he's in the middle of a process of adaptation, he is trying to find his Way to do things and at the same time to follow the requirements of the new system.

But, again, let's remember this is just an EX-Program, he is still learning and trying new things and incorporating them into his work, maybe we are too worried about next season and it prevent us to enjoy a bit more what we are seeing?

I AM TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOUR EVERY WORD!


Other girls, please - be patient! Except to what sarahjev wrote, I can add some my observations:
- Plushy skate, how much ... 24 years? Would not and you will be bored, to perform one and the same 24 years?
- these shows are good for experimenting and listening response from audience
- also are good for checking physical ability and current form
- these are just a small indication of what he actually prepares
- does not always Plushy tried something new, bolder and different from others?
- most important is that HE like and enjoy in what he skate - not we! ... to the contrary, I not see any other his motivation to continue ...

Continue to write your comments - if someone from his team reads this, it is good to know and for other opinions ... but above all - be patient and do not dramatize things in advance.

Cekoni, ты меня опередила! Sarahjev очень правильно все написала - показательный номер на то и показательный, нужно наслаждаться его энергетикой.
Женя сам говорит, что нужно меняться, работать над транзишенами - он все это видит лучше нас и, самое главное, готов к переменам! Заметте, что за последнее время он показал уже два новых, совершенно разных номера, работал с разными хореографами. Кто ищет, тот всегда найдет, не правда ли? Не сомневаемся, что в следующем сезоне Женя порадует сваих поклонников .

I like it. At the end only he does his own thing again, lol. It is not a competition program, it was a program tribute to Japan. And he experiments. Evgeni never did competition programs in shows. And thats what I like. Where you around when he did Asisai, Sex Bomb and Only you? Not much skating, more acting or dancing. My favorite exhibition is Hafanana. Full of gimmicks and interaction. I adore it. Nobody was scared then he would use them in competitions. Dont let the whole medal hunt take off your joy, normally Evgeni with his huge career behind he should have moved to Maldives by now and we would never see him again. But he still skates and experiments and this is a great privilege.

I think we are all tense from the Worlds the previous week, and we cant enjoy what Evgeni does. Sure it is not a competition program but it is something new, instead of having one more program like Caruso or Malade he skated to Scorpions. Actually his choreo surprised me. I didnt watch it with the eye of a judge marking his pcs.

The program with Zhulin is of course another great sign of what he is capable of and what direction he might take. It is also another experiment. I trust him. We kept sayng so much of his Vancouver programs, but with these programs he was feeling well and he won all season plus silver at Olympics. The more distant we get from Olys the more I think Evgeni did the right thing, Arranguz and Tango wont be my fav ever, but if they helped him have this sucessful comeback it is fine by me. I dont believe results would have changed had he have a better program, to see clearly what was going on, think what Lysacek program would mark this season at worlds, I bet near the end of top ten, no way would Lysacek have medaled in worlds 2011 with this frenic program.

Besides, with Worlds as they turned out, I dont know what to think about next season or the seasons up to Sochi. The marks of Chan were sureal for what I saw on ice and if the trends keeps i see none breaking his records. The only disadvantage is that it is very hard to sustain being the ultra favorite for 3 more seasons, this is what Chan will find hard to do. Once you are at the top the motivation and expectation are different. Judges tried to convince me that Chan is the next best thing since sliced bread, but I dont like sandwitches.

Evgeni is Europe is safe, the Euro guys I m not afraid of. My only slight fear is what would happen in the unlikely possibility that Arthur somehow beats Evgeni in one of the future competitions. This would be a great test for Mishin team that I dread it.
