STATEMENTS RIGHT AFTER FS
Evgeni Plushenko:
I am very happy with my performance because I ran the whole program in a clean way. I did a quadruple toeloop, and the combination, and I skated with great emotion. As a true Plushenko! I'm sorry but I can not go to the World Cup. I have to undergo a surgery in Munich, Germany, the left knee. But definitely will race next year and of course for the Olympic Games 2014 in Sochi. And we'll see, maybe in 2018 will be my son to skate ... When I'm skating like this not being 100% healthy I can do much more when I'm totally fit.
(About the win) It's 'my seventh title and I wrote a little bit of 'history'. I am proud of myself. Yesterday I decided to do a quaudruple in training. I thought it may work out after succeeding a triple toe triple toe combo.
Gachinski:
I am very pleased with how I skated. Everything went as planned. I did everything I wanted the free and went very well. After all, they are still young.
PRESS CONFERENCE
- Gachinski: I am very glad that the race is over, expect this time, or finish my leisure. For the first time I ran two quads. I was 'a little' off the tops, I was not quite on the music, but ok, it's something on which you can work. I am very pleased, it went well.
- Plushenko: Well, obviously I'm happy, what can I say. I'm happy with my performance and results. I don't participate @ WC and then begin to prepare for next season. Hard work, hard work ... but today I am happy, and believe me, I really am, didn't I skate a good program? One quad, two triple axels. And a little 'of history, 7 times European champion. Obviously I would like to thank my team, Mishin, Avdish, Malygin, Yana my wife tells me "Do it, do it, it works, you can skate" Thanks Yana, my "kotya". And of course I want to thank Ottavio Cinquanta who gave me the opportunity to skate here. Thank you very much and see you soon, at the competitions next year.
Gachinski question: How intimidating is it skating after Evgeny?
- Answer: I can not say that it was very difficult to skate, I did not hear the scores, I have not looked at. I skated for myself, to satisfy myself. I did my jumps, spins and steps. This was my only goal.
Gachisnki question: Are you happy or disappointed at the outcome?
- Answer: of course I'm happy with the result, it is my second time and are second. It 'a great step forward for me. I'm happy, I had my best season, and both scores were very high. I'm happy with the competition, I think it was a success.
Plushenko question: When did you decide that you could land a quad?
- The day after the short I thought I should at least try it in training. I have not tried it now and leg allowed me to jump. I am grateful to God and the doctors who have made this possible, not being blocked by the meniscus. If we compare this to the performance of S. Petersburg, I was stuck there, like when you can not move. It did not happen today, it was fortunate for me. I could work up to now, which I did.
Plushenko question: Can you tell us something about the emotions felt during the program?
- They were feelings of greatest happiness, especially after the quad. But of course I had to concentrate. I remember the Europeans in Hungary when I did 4-3-2 and then preparing the axel fell and lost in favor of Joubert. So for me it was very important to finish (concentrate). Of course I had a good workout doing the qualification in which I have done everything, but the second half was not very good. Obviously in that time I skated after 5 injections, but today I have not made any, only massage, and then I had a good workout before the program. I guess I wanted it more strongly than the other guys. Then the emotions came naturally towards the end of the program. It reminded me of myself 8-10 years ago.
Plushenko question: The decision not to go to the World Cup is final, or run the risk if all goes well?
- Let's be realistic, the operation will be February 21, calculating a month of recovery is 21 March, almost at the World Championships. Obviously I want to stay healthy ... I'm generally in mental health, but physically ... I said, I want to stay healthy and get to the next season completely clear. I suffered during the bootcamp in Italy and Estonia. The pain was constant. I do not want this to happen again. I do not know how it goes, but I will work and try to feel good. So no, I will not go to the World Cup, I want to give space to youngsters so they can take advantage of it. Again, my major goal is Sochi 2014, my fourth Olympics, but will of course only after the European Championship and then another world. So, ultimately, is a NO.
Plushenko question: European Champion at the age of 28 years, Olympian at the age of 31. Want to give a demonstration to the people?
- Answer: No, I want to show with my skating that you can go ahead with this sport. Not like someone who wins an Olympics and then you're going into business, I mean doing shows and coaches. I think it's possible to change, show that an athlete can do what it should. And prove that you can skate at the age of 31 years. I do not know what the outcome will be, but it would be a great success for me to even participate.
In addition to the previous Olympics, the people said to methat would not have been possible to skate the OG after being out for three years. Very few people believed in me. And now I've missed another season, I have not skated and was injured. Again, few people believed in me. Am I doing something new, I do not know what will happen but are the first to do so, and it's nice.
Plushenko question: Watching the statics this was your best FS ever ever. Do you think this was in fact your best performance?
- I do not think my best performances because I also had 2 quads a couple of years ago, but personally and as for the day today so I feel it's the best.
Plushenko question: did you feel that you proved a lot to yourself aswell as to everyone else with your performanc? Don't you think you're a semi-deity of your discipline? For example, whatever you do (whether to retire or land a quad in Moscow), your rivals are conditioned by you and make mistakes that can only be explained by being psychologically under pressure.
- Answer: Thanks for giving me that 'definition', but people call me "Tsar". It 'a great honor. And 'what I'm trying to remain for a long in the memory of both people and for myself. I don't only skate for myself, but aswell for you people. I would not be anything else. I do shows but it is not enough. I need the competitive atmosphere, the rivalry, the adrenaline, the fight. It 'a great feeling.
Question to Amodio and Gachisnki: Evgeny is 29 years old and still talks of his future. You will have only 19 and 21, what are your plans, think of skating so long as he?
- Amodio: there is a long time to become like Evgeny, but of course I respect him a lot. I am honored to be on the podium with two Russians, I train a lot in Moscow. I'm sure I can do a good job, I will continue on my way. And maybe skate a long time, but I want to be patient and just want to skate.
- Gachisnki: I do not like thinking about the future, I do not know how long skate. Depends on the health, the weather. But I will do my best to skate as long as you shall want. This is my goal. For now I just want to work and improve, that's all.
Gachinski question: You have often said that Evgeny is your model, you grew up with him. What do you think of his second coming?
- Answer: 'an idol for me, because it's really hard to come back and skate with this competition and be competitive. I can only say that I respect him even more. For me it is still an idol, one that is not shown in the free thing to everyone, and I hope to make him a good competition.
Gachinski question: Evgeny told us a couple of minutes ago that this was not his best performance as it did two quads in the past. This is exactly what you did today, and you only got the silver. How do you plan to beat him when he returns next season?
- Answer: First I want to learn to skate better and take better pcs. But today I did two quads for the first time and I am preparing two other programs I might add that in the future. I have very strong cards to play, and there is much to work with.
