Grand Prix series standings and medal count (after four):http://www.examiner.com/figure-skating- ... after-fourWith NHK Trophy wrapped up this weekend in Sapporo, Japan, the Grand Prix series now moves onto its final two qualifying events before the Grand Prix Final. Eight of the 24 spots in the Final have been wrapped up, with all four winners from NHK securing their berths – Daisuke Takahashi, Akiko Suzuki, Yuko Kavaguti and Alexander Smirnov, and Maia Shibutani and Alex Shibutani all earned enough points with their gold medals. Germans Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy also qualified for the Final.
Japan’s five medals in its home Grand Prix vaulted it to the top of the medal count with nine medals, two of them gold (both at NHK Trophy). Russia and the United States both have earned eight medals each, with the Russians taking five golds and the Americans taking four golds.
